Preparation for Massage:

​

* Exfoliate/Shower your whole body prior if able and ready for your treatment, leaving it clean of any products.

​* Remove all jewellery.

* Leave your worries behind you.

* Arrive 5 minutes before your treatment.

* Drink water to maintain hydration & aid removal of waste from the body.

* Any serious medical conditions should have GP consent  prior to treatment.

* Avoid caffeine, if possible. 

*Wear loose comfortable clothing, if possible.

The Massage Treatment:

​

* Once in the treatment room, you will be asked to remove all clothing except your under-pants.  

* All clients modesty will be respected with appropriate draping abiding to association standards.  

* You will be asked to lie on the massage table and to cover yourself with a bath-sheet.  

* The treatment will usually start with disinfecting your feet with some wipes. 

(Only if feet are being treated)

* Then the therapist will massage your back, then work down to the back of your legs. 

(Also appropriate to treatment plan)

*Then you will be asked to turn over and the therapist will massage the front of your legs, your arms,

your shoulders, décolleté and scalp.  

(Also appropriate to massage treatment set for you)

* Massaging your tummy is optional.

 

Healing Reactions: 

These are completely normal after your massage. 

(showing that the massage has been effective and your body is responding to your treatment).

 

Indications:

- Fatigued or tired. (this can be a sign of deep relaxation)

- Increased sweating, thirst or urination.

- Irritable or energised.

- Heightened emotions. (low or high)

- Runny, stuffy or blocked nose.

- Sound sleeping and vivid dreams.

- Some may experience nausea and headaches.  This is normal, it will pass.

- Relaxation produced during massage can reduce challenging behaviours and anxiety and stress.

- Increased circulation

- Helps exfoliate dead skin cells

- Nutrients circulate more effectively

- Maintained collagen

- Reduced cortisol

- You may feel sore 72 hours after your treatment

Aftercare:

 

* Relax and take it easy for the rest of the day, if possible otherwise continue with your regular schedule.

* Avoid heat treatments (hot baths / showers, body wraps, saunas, sunbeds) for 24 hours. 

If possible.

* Avoid alcohol, smoking, caffeine and fizzy drinks if possible use your discretion.

(As they may dehydrate your body and add more toxins to your body, This may reverse the

effects of the massage, since the massage is in-turn aiding the body in removing the accumulation

of toxins).

* Avoid eating a heavy and especially spicy meal so your body can focus on natural healing and detoxifying itself.

* Get plenty of Fresh Air to avoid drowsiness.

* Oils can cause irritation when exposed to sunlight, wash immediately in warm water.

 

 

Massages are recommended often!

To maintain your results, try the following:

​

* Take a warm bath once a week.

* Relax and distress.

* Find time to exercise. 

* Stretch.

* Exfoliate and moisturise your body regularly.

*Stand up and walk around.

* Maintain posture, raise your legs a bit.
